Showcase Bangladesh in KL Jul 11 to attract FDI
A trade and investment show titled ‘Showcase Bangladesh- Go Global’ will be held in Kuala Lumpur on July 11 to explore trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will attend the event as the chief guest while State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmad and Deputy Minister, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) of Malaysia Dr Ong Kian Ming as special guests.
BMCCI President Syed Moazzam Hossain briefed media about the event at the Jatiya Press Club yesterday.
Amir Farid Abu Hasan, acting High Commissioner, High Commission of Malaysia in Dhaka, Ar Md Alamgir Jalil, former BMCCI President and Chairman of organizing committee, Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Secretary General, BMCCI and Director 4th Showcase Bangladesh Go Global, Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury Noman, Secretary General, Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) and Md Moniruzzaman Khan, Senior Executive Vice President, Green Delta Insurance Co Ltd were present.
It is expected that about 250-300 Malaysian businessmen will participate in the event, organisers said.
A commemorative souvenir will be published on the occasion.
It will highlight the significance of the grand event: Showcase Bangladesh – Go Global.
Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) in collaboration with the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, supported by Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) will host the one-day event at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur.
This is going to be the fourth trade show in Kuala Lumpur organised by the BMCCI.
With the theme ‘Go Global’, the event will explore key trade and investment opportunities that exist for Bangladesh in particular from Malaysian counterparts, said the organisers.
It will also focus on trade and investment practices, opportunities and challenges of major stakeholders – both private and public, they said.
The event will be comprised of seminars, B2B meetings, together with showcasing Bangladeshi products.
It will be attended by major business houses, interested investors and government bodies of Malaysia and also the local investors from Bangladesh who aspire to bring investment from Malaysia to Bangladesh.
Ministers both from the two the countries, Malaysian Investors – both new and potential, local Bangladeshi investors who aim to attract FDI through joint venture basis, international trade experts, policymakers and government officials, business leaders, corporate houses are expected to participate.
Currently, Bangladesh has $252 million export to Malaysia, according to the BMCCI.
